Savage Lies: Savage Throws In The Towel
August 15, 2008 | Comments Off
Radio blowhard Michael Savage has decided to drop his lawsuit against the Council on American Islamic Relations.
A federal judge last month, in tossing Savage’s claims of copyright infringement, gave him until today to refile his complaint alleging that CAIR is a corrupt organization under the Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organization (RICO) statute.
But apparently yesterday, Savage’s “lawyer,” Daniel “Is That Camera On?” Horowitz, filed a three-page notice with the court informing it that Savage had “reluctantly” deicded to drop the suit.
Why? Because Savage had received threats, Horowitz said. Hey, Horowitz, said, we were ready to go. We had a 117-page complaint all set to be filed.
But then Savage received those “threats.”
I don’t know what to make of this. Could he have been threatened? Maybe. But I think this paragraph from teh San Fran Chronicle’s story gets to the point:
In dismissing the racketeering claim, Illston said that even if Savage could prove CAIR was part of a worldwide terrorist conspiracy, he hadn’t shown how it affected him or his broadcast. She noted that his allegations were largely focused on activities - such as lawsuits, boycotts and criticism of his broadcasts - that are protected by free speech, but said he could try to rewrite the claim to cure its legal defects.
Bottom line, he couldn’t prove how CAIR’s alleged corrupt activities affected his business.
And you have to love Horowitz’s letter to the court. I’ve seen better-written third-grade book reports:
NOTICE OF PLAINTIFF MICHAEL SAVAGE’S
DECISION NOT TO FILE AN AMENDED
COMPLAINT AS TO RICO CAUSE OF ACTIONNotice is hereby given that Michael Savage does not intend to file an Amended Complaint as to the RICO cause of action herein. Plaintiff is aware that this matter is on calendar on Friday, August 15, 2008 as follows:
03:45 PM NO APPEARANCE MATTER:
C-07-6076 MICHAEL SAVAGE v. COUNCIL ON AMERICAN-ISLAMIC RELATIONS
Pltf. to Amend Complaint.
To Set Further CMC.
(if no complaint filed, need to enter judgment)Plaintiff further informs the court and opposing counsel that this decision was not based upon an analysis of the merits of the Amended Complaint. Plaintiff has prepared a final version of that Amended Complaint that is 116 pages with approximately 200 pages of exhibits. In the opinion of plaintiff’s counsel, the complaint as written would state a claim under the RICO provisions of 18 U.S.C. 1962 (c) & (d) and would not be barred by the First Amendment.
Plaintiff further informs the Court that the factual content of the Amended Complaint (if filed) would reflect major factual improvements that clearly document an enterprise, a conspiracy and a large number of very specific acts by defendant in furtherance of the conspiracy.
The unfiled Amended Complaint states specific RICO predicate acts directed at plaintiff by this defendant causing monetary damage to plaintiff.
The Amended Complaint addresses each and every concern set forth in this Court’s written order. The Amended Complaint took over 150 hours to prepare.1
Despite the above, factors arising out of this litigation but taking place (or potentially having an effect) outside of this litigation, have led plaintiff (reluctantly), not to proceed. If the Court has any questions about the basis of the decision not to proceed, plaintiff is prepared to fully and immediately provide further explanation. Plaintiff has not done so here because the context of this document is not to continue the dispute but explain to the Court the basis of plaintiff’s decision not to go forward.

Daniel Horowitz
Attorney for Plaintiff - Michael Savage
Why should the judge care that Horowitz spent 150 hours working on it? “Gee Judge, I spent so much time on this, you know it’s going to be good.” Please.
And isn’t it grand how Horowitz assures the court that every one of the claims would be substantiated, and that he can absolutely prove there was damage to Savage’s business?
Anyone recall the “In this envelope, I have evidence of a communist conspiracy” speeches?
I wonder how long it took for the smoke to clear from Judge Illston’s courtroom.
Is CAIR part of a terrorist organization? I have no idea, but I wouldn’t be surprised. But if it is, Savage ain’t the guy who’s going to prove it. Not with that representation.
Whatever. Once again, Savage demonstrates that he’s all sizzle, no steak.
Keep the faith.

Savage Lies: What’s The Point, Savage?
August 11, 2008 | Comments Off
So we’ve often heard our favorite Right-wing blowhard prattle on about how he doesn’t dislike people of color, and how his “Savage Nation” is an inclusive one.
He says that, even though all of the hateful rants I have heard him spew have people of color as their targets.
But let’s give him the benefit of the doubt for a moment. Let’s assume that the “Savage Nation” isn’t just a euphemism for “White Power.”
How then, Savage, do you explain one of your headlines on your Web site today? You know, the one that reads, “Black Mob Beats Hero White Marines Rescuing Girl.”
It’s from this story from the New York Post, which, of course, has a different headline. And I would note that nowhere in the Post’s story is the race of the mob mentioned. It’s alluded to in a quote one of the victims gave, who said they were called “white boys.”
But that’s beside the point, really. What was the point, Savage, Mr. All-Inclusive, in pointing out race in the headline?
The answer is, simply, that Savage is a racist. You can tell it in his speech, you can tell it when he plays “Dixie” during his program (even though he insists it’s a patriotic song. Sure, if you’re a member of the Sons of the Confederacy.)
And I would bet dollars to doughnuts that you’d be able to tell it in the lyrics of the unpublished, copyrighted song Savage wrote (as Michael Weiner) called “White Man.”
C’mon Savage, you snaggle-toothed pussy. Prove me wrong. Give me written permission to take to the US Copyright Office to get a copy of your lyrics and print them. We’ll settle this once and for all.
Think they’ll ever see the light of day? Me neither.
Keep the faith.

Savage Lies: So What’s New?
August 1, 2008 | Comments Off
Just listening to our favorite blowhard, and he said something interesting.
He was talking about the nutjob who beheaded a fellow passenger on a Greyhound bus in Manitoba, Canada. Savage, who earlier in the show talked about the need to be humble (yeah, right), boasted that his Web site is the only place that one could read about it.
Savage claimed that Canadian media “buried” the story because the suspect “doesn’t look like Timothy McVeigh.” The suspect, he said, doesn’t have blue eyes and blond hair.
Censorhsip? Really?
Nope. I checked out tonight’s front page of the Toronto Star’s Web site, which has, at the top of the page, video on the story.
Even the Brandon Sun, which is a local paper in the Manitoba area, carried a top-of-the-page story and photo on its Web site.
So as usual, Michael Savage is a liar.
Keep the faith.

Savage Lies: Oh My God! Media Matters is a Liberal Organization!!
July 29, 2008 | Comments Off
Hokly smokes, who would ‘a thunk that a group that advertises itself as a “progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media” would be found to have taken contributions from liberal-leaning people and groups?
I mean, the irony!
But that seems to be the big discovery made by our favorite Right-wing radio blowhard, Michael Savage. It seems he or someone reviewed copies of Media Matetrs’ IRS filings and searched the literature to determine what everyone else in the world already knows: Media Matters is a progressive group. You can find the startling discovery here.
Stop the presses!
This is, of course, Savage’s limp-wristed response to the scrutiny of his words that Media Matters has caused over the past months, especially the past week, with his screed against autistic kids and their parents.
This is his version of hitting back? More like a weak slap on the shoulder, if you ask me.
Hey Savage, here’s a thought: In the interest of full disclosure, why don’t you release the names of everyone who donated to your Paul Revere Society — also at one time a 501(c)(3) organization? And while you’re at it, why not an accounting of the $900,00 that was in the organization’s bank account when it lost its 501(c)(3) status?
I won’t hold my breath. With Savage, it’s take my word for it, but don’t question me.
Keep the faith.
